Richard J. Davidson is a psychologist and neuroscientist best known for his pioneering research on the neural bases of emotion, meditation, and human flourishing. He is the William James and Vilas Professor of Psychology and Psychiatry at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and founder and director of the Center for Healthy Minds. He currently leads research and public initiatives on how contemplative practices like mindfulness and compassion meditation can improve wellbeing across the lifespan.
